Real Brides Featuring Abigail Walker

Abigail: My husband Andrew and I were introduced by a mutual friend. Andrew got my number and called me to ask for a date and it was from that very first date that I knew something was different about him. He was so easy to talk to and get to know, but the most important thing about dating was that we loved being ourselves when we were together. He is goofy and kind and loyal and very hard working. Then just 9 months after meeting, Andrew surprised me with a trip to the Oregon coast. He proposed on my very favorite beach. It was a dream come true.

 

Abigail: The word that I used the most when planning my wedding was "classic." I wanted a classic wedding gown and I wanted everything to feel timeless. My colors were inspired by a Rifle Paper guest book, which I did in fact use at the wedding. I had gold accents and soft touches of green and blue. My bridesmaids wore three different style dresses in three different colors. The two shades of green and the dusty blue were absolutely perfect. They were happy and soft colors without being too loud. Andrew wore a black suit with a black bowtie because I knew he would just look handsome in our pictures in that timeless style. I was very inspired by our beautiful venue at Foxhall Resort in Douglasville, GA. When we decided we were going to have a day wedding I knew I wanted light to play a huge role in our wedding. Walking down the aisle was a magical moment. The room was bright and all my family and friends seemed to be glowing.

 

Abigail: I loved everything about our perfect day because to us and our family it truly felt perfect. But if I have to choose, at this very moment I would say the band. I am a woman who loves to dance, and I love to dance to the classics the most. Our band was so lively and fun and really made the whole reception feel like a party. They played bands like Earth, Wind & Fire and The Temptations. The music set the tone perfectly for the joyous, silly, and happy party we wanted to have so.

 

 

Abigail: The planning process was hard and my brain felt pretty fried by the end of it, but the best thing I got from it was the time gained by doing it with others. My groom was an incredible help. He found the things that he was passionate about and just went for it (he actually found our band). My mom was always in my corner and gave me so much advice, but also helped sure every detail got done. And then the amount of time my friends spent with me on decor and organizing was just so fun and brought us even closer together. If you are planning your wedding right now, please don't do it alone. It is a wonderful thing to share. It's not always fun and maybe you don't want too many cooks in the kitchen, but believe me when I say that you want to have those memories of planning together.

 

 

Abigail: My mom! No one knows me or the way that I think and plan more than she does. She made the whole experience not only fun but she helped me stay calm in the moments that I got stressed. She was the only one that saw me in my dress before the big day, and to have those little secrets with each other was so fun.
